I am Keri Landrum, the owner of Next Steps for Seniors. I have a Masters Degree in Gerontology and have been working with seniors in Santa Clara County for over 25 years. My experience includes: working as a Long Term Care Ombudsman (an advocate for seniors in long term care), Director of Social Services in a skilled nursing facility, Director of Resident Services in HUD Senior Housing as well as a number of volunteer positions in the industry. I am blessed to be able to combine my passion for assisting the elderly with my education and experience and share this expertise with indviduals and families in need of guidance.

What makes Next Steps for Seniors so different than the rest? Individual attention. Rather than just sending you a list of locations as some services will do, my first step is to set up an appointment to meet with the senior--this initial meeting, although not mandatory, is extremely beneficial to all involved. Along with information provided by the family and any healthcare providers involved, this face-to-face meeting helps me help to gain a greater understanding of the individual. Care needs are the first priority--the options vary between private care homes (often referred to Board and Care Homes or Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly) and Assisted Living communities that offer a wide range of services. After the first meeting, I will discuss the options available that specifically meet the level of care needed, costs involved and locations. I pre-screen every option and narrow down the choices--and then I set up appointments for tours and personally escort you through the process.

Everyone is different, and so are the facilities! Instead of relying on names from a database for these important decisions, I use my personal relationships with a large number of facilities to focus you on only those locations that meet your specific desires and requirements. While I spend more time, it's worth it when I find just the right fit for you or your loved one.
